The Defending Champ
Eastside FC 98 Red (WA) defeated YMS Premier Xplosion 98 (E-PA) in the finals of the 2013 US Youth Soccer National Championship, and the two finalists are in the same group for 2014. Eastside continued its dominance on the national stage with a first place finish in the National League Blue Division with a 6-1-0 record, and was the only team to surpass four wins. Eastside had some difficulty in their efforts to defend their region title as the Washington squad missed 2013 Golden Ball Award winner Joanna Harber, who was attending a National Team camp during the 2014 US Youth Soccer Region IV Championships. Harber will be back at the National Championships, and Eastside will look for a repeat title despite the field doubling.

The Veterans
YMS Premier Xplosion 98 (E-PA) was a game away from a National Championship in 2013 and continued its dominance over the Eastern Pennsylvania and Region I fields by wining its third straight state and region titles. On top of that, YMS qualified for Nationals with a second-place finish in the National League Red Division.

The Newcomers

National League Red Division champ, Pride Predators 99 (CO) finished with a 4-1-2 record, and took advantage of Eastside falling in the quarterfinals of the 2014 Region IV Championship en route to their first region title. Pride Predators defeated Legends FC Sanchez (CA-S) 2-0 in the finals, but Legends will advance as the Region IV Representative. Futura Academy Forte (MO) finished second to Eastside in the National League Blue Division and was the only squad that went undefeated with a 4-0-3 record. Futura Academy also sported the second-best goal differential of seven goals with only the defending National Champ besting the Missouri squad. 2014 Region II Championship winners Alliance FC will be joining Eastside, YMS and Legends in Group B, and will be looking to make up for a eighth place finish in the National League Red Division. Jacksonville FC 98/99 Elite (FL) didn't give up a goal until the semifinals of the US Youth Soccer Region III Championship and scored 17 goals overall in the span of six games.  Rounding out the group is Region I Representative Loudoun 98 Red (VA), who made it to the finals of the Region I Championship by only giving up one goal, but ultimately lost to YMS in the finals.

How they got to Nationals

Loudoun 98 Red (VA) became the club's second team in the Under 15 age group to qualify for the US Youth Soccer National Championship, joining Under 15 Boys Loudoun 98 Red (VA), who qualified earlier via the National League. Loudoun advanced to the 2014 US Youth Soccer Region I Championships through the Region I Premier League, and advanced out of the group stage with a 1-0-2 record. Loudoun defeated Delaware Rush (DE) 1-0 in the semifinals before falling to defending region champ, YMS Premier Xplosion (E-PA) 1-0 in the finals. Thanks to YMS already qualifying through the National League, Loudoun will head to the National Championships as the Region I Representative.
