The Defending Champ
Eclipse Elite Black 97-98 (IL) returns to the US Youth Soccer National Championships as the 2013 champ and with hopes of becoming the 2014 champ, as well. Eclipse needed a penalty kick shoot out against 2012 National Champion MRM Coyoyes (MD) to get out of the group stage last year before defeating Ambassadors FC (OH-N) in overtime to secure the national title. This year, Eclipse was the only team to surpass five wins in their National League Blue Division first place campaign. Eclipse also led the age group with 20 goals while only surrendering seven. Eclipse will have to contend in an Under-16 Girls group with a host of National Championship experience and only time will tell if the side can repeat as National Champion.
The Veterans
The Under-16 Girls group features five other teams with National Championship experience. 2012 National Champions, MRM Coyotes will no doubt use their ousting last year as motivation coming into the 2014 National Championships. MRM Coyotes finished second behind Eclipse in the National League Blue Division with a 4-2-1 record. Tennessee SC 16 (TN) joins MRM Coyotes as the only teams entering their third straight National Championship. Tennessee SC is also the only team that has claimed three straight regional titles. Both MRM Coyotes and Tennessee will play in Group A, and joining them will be two-time National League Red Division champ Carlsbad Elite 97/98. After scoring a whopping 25 goals in their previous campaign, Carlsbad scored 13 in the 2013-2014 National League while surrendering only four. National League Red Division runner-up Tampa Bay United 97 Premier (FL) will also be heading to Nationals for a second straight season. Tampa Bay United will look to improve on its third place finish in Pool B at the 2013 National Championships. Beach FC 97 Academy is the only veteran not to reach the 2013 National Championships. The Cal South squad finished fourth at the 2012 National Championships and will look for a better result after missing a year. Beach FC scored 27 goals and didn't give up any in six games at the 2014 US Youth Soccer Region IV Championships, and will look to continue that dominance at the National Championships.
The Newcomers
Beadling SC Wolfpack (PA-W) will join Eclipse, Tampa Bay and Beach FC in Group B. The three-time Pennsylvania West State Cup champ won its first US Youth Soccer Region I Championship by defeating MRM Coyotes in the finals to secure a spot in the National Championships. FC United Select won its first US Youth Soccer Region II Championship by defeating two-time defending champ, Ambassadors FC (OH-N) 4-2 in overtime to punch its ticket to the 2014 National Championships.

How they got to Nationals

Beadling SC Wolfpack (PA-W) earned its third straight Pennsylvania West State Cup title and a trip to the 2014 US Youth Soccer Region I Championship. Beadling only conceded one goal and scored nine in the group stage en route to a 2-0-1 record. In the semifinals, Beadling defeated New Jersey Rush (NJ) 2-0, and edged out a 1-0 victory over 2012 US Youth Soccer National Champion MRM Coyotes (MD) in the finals to secure a spot in the National Championship.
