14 South Texas, Teams Advance to 2017 US Youth Soccer Region III Championships

FRISCO, Texas (June 1, 2017) – By winning the US Youth Soccer South Texas State Championships, 14 South Texas soccer teams have qualified to compete in the 2017 US Youth Soccer Region III (South) Championships.

The attending teams will be among the more than 200 top US Youth Soccer Boys and Girls teams from the 12 US Youth Soccer State Associations competing for the regional title, June 23-29 at the US Youth Soccer Region III Championships at BB&T Soccer Complex at Bryan Park in Greensboro, N.C. Daily reports and complete results from the tournament will be available on http://Championships.USYouthSoccer.org/RegionIII.

The Region III Championships will feature top teams in the 13U through 19/20U age groups. Preliminary games will take place Friday, June 23 through Sunday, June 25.  Quarterfinal matches are Monday, June 26 for the 13U Boys and 14U-16U age groups, and June 27 for the 13U Girls, 17U and 18U age groups and 19/20U boys. Semifinals are Tuesday, June 27 for the 19/20U girls and Wednesday, June 28 for 13U-18U age groups & 19/20U boys. The Region III Champions will be crowned following final games on Wednesday, June 28 for 19/20U girls and Thursday, June 29 for 13U-18U teams and 19/20U boys.

US Youth Soccer State Cup Champions and select runners-up from 12 US Youth Soccer State Associations in Region III, including host North Carolina Youth Soccer Association will participate. The other State Associations represented are Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Texas, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Texas and Tennessee.

Regional winners of the 13U through 19/20U age groups earn a berth to the 2017 US Youth Soccer National Championships, held July 24-30 at the Toyota Soccer Center in Frisco, Texas. One of the 14 national crowns awarded is the James P. McGuire Cup, the oldest trophy in youth sport dating back to 1935 with the inaugural youth championships.
