Minos Vlamakis

  • Minos Vlamakis joined Raiders FC in 2011 after four successful seasons as the High School Academy Director of Chicago United FC (CUFC).  In his first season, he has led the club to a runners-up spot in the USYS National League, a Disney Showcase Championship, the Midwest Regional League Premier Division Championship, a runners-up spot in the Illinois State Cup and the USYS Region II Championship, earning the U17 Raiders FC Premier team a spot at the 2012 USYS National Championships.
  • During his time at CUFC, Vlamakis' teams won numerous Northern Illinois Soccer League Premier League Championships (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010), an Illinois US Club Cup (2010), and a US Club Regional Championship (2010) from 2007-2010. Several of his players are currently playing at the collegiate level.
  • Vlamakis is currently an assistant men's soccer coach at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) and has been there since 2007. During his time at UIC, he has been an integral part of the program that were Horizon League Regular Season Champions (2008) and Horizon League Tournament Champions (2007). UIC also made NCAA Division I Tournament appearances twice in his tenure there, advancing to the "Elite Eight" in 2007 and the "Sweet 16" in 2008. In addition to the team's success, several players also garnered individual honors by being named NSCAA All-Americans while also moving on to sign professional soccer contracts.
  • Prior to coaching at Raiders FC, CUFC and UIC, Vlamakis spent six years coaching men's soccer in Illinois and retired in 2008 as one of the winningest coaches in USASA history. After winning the 2004 USASA Amateur Cup, while an assistant at Winged Bull SC, Vlamakis took over the head coaching position of RWB Adria, leading the prestigious Croatian-American club to several championships in the National Soccer League (2006, 2007, 2008), Illinois State Cup (2006, 2008), Illinois Amateur Cup (2006) Illinois Open Cup (2007, 2008) and the USASA Region II Open Cup (2007, 2008). • At the same time while with Winged Bull and RWB Adria from 2004-2008, Vlamakis was also the head coach of the Illinois State Select Team that dominated the regional and national scene, winning the USASA Region II Select Team Tournament (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007) as well as the George F. Donnelly Cup (USASA Select Team National Championship) in 2006 and 2007. Those trophies represented the first ones that Illinois won in its 96 year history. Before leaving the amateur game to focus on youth and collegiate soccer, Vlamakis was named the National Soccer League Coach of the Year (2006, 2007), the Illinois Coach of the Year (2006, 2007), the USASA Region II Coach of the Year (2007) and the USASA National Coach of the Year (2007).
