How they got to Nationals
After being one place away from quallifying to the National Championships via National League, VSA Heat tallied 19 goals and only gave up one in four games to win the Virginia State Cup. Heat defeated fellow National League competitor Herndon Firecats 2-0 in the finals. In the 2012 Region I Championships, Heat scored 15 goals and conceded four. VSA Heat came from behind to defeate Seacoast United (NH) in overtime 2-1 in the finals.

How they got to Nationals
Botafogo scored four goals in each of their four games en route to an Illinois State Cup championship. Botafogo defeated FC United Select 4-3 in the finals. Boafogo scored 18 goals and only conceded three in the 2012 Region II Championships and defeated North Shore United (WI) 3-0 in the finals.

How they got to Nationals
CESA won all three of their games at the South Carolina State cup and had a goal differential of 12:1. CESA defeated SCUFC 2-1 in the finals. After previous attempts to advance past the quarter-finals of the Region III Championships, CESA finally broke through in the 2012 and won the tournament by defeating Brandon FC Flames (FL) 2-1 in the finals.

How they got to Nationals
Chilipeppers won the California-North State Cup by scoring 13 goals and giving up four and defeated Orchard Valley 2-0 in the finals. At the Region IV Championships, the Chilipeppers won all of their games leading up to the finals by scoring 17 goals and allowing four. The Chilipeppers lost to Legends Breakaway in the finals, but advanced as the Region IV representative due to Breakaway already quallifying for the National Championships via the National League.

How they got to Nationals
Legends FC qualified to the National Championship through the National League where they went 5-0-2 and scored the most goals in the league (22) and surrendered the least (3). Legends advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2012 Region IV Champinhsips with a 1-1-1 record in the group stage, but they were defeated by Arsenal Colorado, 2-1.
