How they got to Nationals

Sparta headed to the Southern Regional Championships as a representative of the Southern Premier League. Once there, Sparta made the most of its first trip to Regionals by topping its group with a 2-0-1 record. Sparta showed its fighting spirit in the quarterfinals as it had to battle back twice from behind behind to earn its, 3-2, victory over 02 CSA Charlotte Predator (NC). Coming off its emotional win, Sparta flexed its muscles with a, 4-0, win in the semifinals over UFA 02 Premier (GA). Sparta's goals came from four different players and they showed how strong their defense can be with the shut out. Sparta's will to win showed again in the final, as it went down early in the first half against Rise SC 02 Elite 1 (TX-S) in a rematch from group play. The two sides tied 0-0 in group play, but age group leading goal scorer, Maycie Massingill, scored two second half goals to help her team comeback and earn the victory to punch Sparta's ticket to the 2018 National Championships.

How they got to Nationals

In its first year as a team, USA 02 Premier (UT) won the Utah State Cup and headed to the Far West Regional Championships in Hawaii. USA went 3-0-0 in group play while flexing its scoring power scoring 3+ goals in each of its group play games. USA went down in the sixth minute of play in the quarterfinals but battled back to earn a 2-1 win. In the semifinals, USA once again fell behind early. The Utah side leveled the score late in the second half and then outlasted their opponents in kicks from the mark to advance to the Regional final. USA met a familiar opponent in the final, WA Timbers 02 Red 1 (OR), who they had previously defeated in group stage. Their luck didn't change in the final as two first half goals from team leading scorer, Erin Bridges, punched USA's ticket to the National Championships.
