Schedule announced for 2011 US Youth Soccer Region I Championships

Opening ceremonies scheduled for Thursday, June 30 at Hershey Park Stadium
Games begin Friday, July 1 at Hempfield High School, East Petersburg Soccer Complex, and Classics Park
 
FRISCO, Texas (June 20, 2011) – US Youth Soccer is proud to announce the schedule for the 2011 US Youth Soccer Region I (East) Championships to be played July 1-5 in Lancaster, Pa. The top 282 US Youth Soccer Boys and Girls teams, including teams from host Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association, will compete at the Hempfield High School, East Petersburg Soccer Complex, and Classics Park for the Region I Championships.

The US Youth Soccer Region I Championships, featuring top teams in the Under-12 through Under-19 age groups, begin Thursday, July 1, with opening ceremonies at Hershey Park Stadium. Round robin games are Friday, July 1, through Sunday, July 3, with semifinal matches Monday, July 4. The US Youth Soccer Region I Champions will be crowned following final games on Tuesday, July 5.
 
The preliminary games will be played at Hempfield High school, East Petersburg Soccer Complex and Classics Park. Semifinal games will be at Hempfield High School and Classics Park, and finals will be played at Classics Park.

US Youth Soccer State Cup champions and select runners-up from 15 US Youth Soccer State Associations in Region I, including host Eastern Pennsylvania will participate. The other State Associations represented are Connecticut, Delaware, Eastern New York, Pennsylvania West, Maine, West Virginia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York West, Rhode Island, Vermont and Virginia.
 
Teams competing in the Regional Championships advanced through the first step of the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series, where more than 10,000 teams began their journey at the US Youth Soccer State Championships. State champions advance to the one of four US Youth Soccer Regional Championships, where 926 teams compete. 
 
The 2011 US Youth Soccer National Championship Series is the country's most prestigious national youth soccer tournament. The event provides over 185,000 players from US Youth Soccer's 55 state associations, the opportunity to showcase their soccer skills against the best competition in the nation while emphasizing teamwork, discipline and fair play. The Series is known as the ultimate destination for the country's collegiate soccer coaches and the future of soccer.

The US Youth Soccer National Championship Series provides more than 10,000 teams from US Youth Soccer's 55 State Associations the opportunity to showcase their abilities against the best in the nation while emphasizing teamwork, discipline and fair play. The yearlong competition begins with over 185,000 players in the US Youth Soccer State Championships. These champions and selected wildcard teams, through US Youth Soccer Regional Leagues, advance to compete in one of four the US Youth Soccer Regional Championships. Champions (U-14 through U-19) from each regional event advance to the US Youth Soccer National Championships. The Under-15 through 17 Boys and Girls age groups have two teams representative of the US Youth Soccer National League, in which the top two teams in each gender age group earn a direct path to the national championships. Overall the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series provides the nation's top collegiate coaches with the premier stage to identify and scout the most coveted players in the country.
