San Antonio, Texas teams advance to 2013 US Youth Soccer Region III Championships
FRISCO, Texas (June 6, 2013) —By winning the recent US Youth Soccer South Texas State Championships, three San Antonio, Texas-area soccer teams have qualified to compete in the
US Youth Soccer Region III (South) Championships, presented by the National Guard.

The teams will be among the more than 200 top US Youth Soccer Boys and Girls teams from the 12 US Youth Soccer
State Associations competing for the regional title, June 20-27 at the US Youth Soccer Region III Championships at the Edmond Soccer Club Complex in Edmond, Okla. Daily reports and complete results from the tournament will be available on

The Region III Championships feature top teams in the Under-13 through Under-19 age groups beginning Thursday, June 20, with opening ceremonies, at Wantland Stadium. Round robin games are Friday, June 21, through Sunday, June 23. Quarterfinal matches are Monday, June 24 for the U-14 – U-16 age groups and June 25 for the U-17 and U-18 age groups. Semifinals are Tuesday, June 25 for U-13 and U-19 and Wednesday, June 26 for U-14 – U-18. The Region III Champions will be crowned following final games on Wednesday, June 26 for U-13 and U-19 and Thursday, June 27 for U-14 – U-18.
US Youth Soccer State Cup Champions and select runners-up from 12 US Youth Soccer State Associations in Region III, including host Oklahoma Soccer Association will participate. The other State Associations represented are Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Texas, South Carolina, South Texas and Tennessee.
Regional winners of the Under-13 through Under-19 age groups earn a berth to the 2013
US Youth Soccer National Championships, presented by the National Guard, July 22-28, at Overland Park Soccer Complex in Overland Park, Kan.
One of the 14 national crowns awarded is the James P. McGuire Cup, the oldest trophy in youth sport dating back to 1935 with the inaugural youth championships.
