FRISCO, Texas (June 24, 2012)– US Youth Soccer is proud to announce the schedule for the 2013 US Youth Soccer Region I (East) Championships to be played June 28-July 2 in Kingston, R.I. The top 256 US Youth Soccer Boys and Girls teams from the East, including teams from host Soccer Rhode Island, will compete at the University of Rhode Island for the Region I Championships.

The US Youth Soccer Region I Championships, featuring top teams in the Under-12 through Under-19 age groups, begin Thursday, June 27, with opening ceremonies at Meade Stadium. Round robin games are Friday, June 28, through Sunday, June 30, with semifinal matches Monday, July 1. The US Youth Soccer Region I Champions will be crowned following final games on Tuesday, July 2.

All games at the US Youth Soccer Region I Championships will be played at the University of Rhode Island.

US Youth Soccer State Cup champions and select runners-up from 15 US Youth Soccer State Associations in Region I, including host Soccer Rhode Island will participate. The other State Associations represented are Connecticut, Delaware, Eastern New York, Eastern Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania West, Maine, West Virginia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York West, Island, Vermont and Virginia.

Teams competing in the Regional Championships advanced through the first step of the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series, where more than 10,000 teams began their journey at the US Youth Soccer State Championships. State champions advance to the one of four US Youth Soccer Regional Championships, where 926 teams compete. 

The 2013 US Youth Soccer National Championship Series is the country's most prestigious national youth soccer tournament. The event provides over 185,000 players from US Youth Soccer's 55 state associations, the opportunity to showcase their soccer skills against the best competition in the nation while emphasizing teamwork, discipline and fair play. The Series is known as the ultimate destination for the country's collegiate soccer coaches and the future of soccer.
