FRISCO, Texas (June 19, 2014) — US Youth Soccer is proud to announce the schedule for the 2014 US Youth Soccer Region I Championships, to be played June 27 – July 1 at the University of Rhode Island in Kingston, R.I.

The US Youth Soccer Region I Championships will feature top teams in the Under-12 through Under-19 age groups and begin on June 26, with opening ceremonies at Meade Stadium in Kingston, R.I. Round robin games will take place Friday, June 27 through Sunday, June 29, with semifinal matches Monday, June 30. The US Youth Soccer Region I Champions will be crowned following final games Tuesday, July 1.

US Youth Soccer State Champions and select wildcards in the U-12 through U-19 Boys and Girls age groups from 15 State Associations, including from host Soccer Rhode Island, will participate in the event. The other state associations represented include Connecticut, Delaware, Eastern New York, Eastern Pennsylvania,  Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York West, Pennsylvania West, Vermont, Virginia and West Virginia.

Teams competing in the Regional Championships advanced through the first step of the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series, where more than 10,000 teams began their journey at the US Youth Soccer State Championships. State champions advance to the one of four US Youth Soccer Regional Championships, where nearly a thousand teams compete. 

The US Youth Soccer National Championship Series is the country's most prestigious national youth soccer tournament. The event provides more than 185,000 players from US Youth Soccer's 55 state associations, the opportunity to showcase their soccer skills against the best competition in the nation while emphasizing teamwork, discipline and fair play. The Series is known as the ultimate destination for the country's collegiate soccer coaches and the future of soccer.
